Keenan explores macabre themes with poetic forms. His drawings often start with an element of random chance, and then slowly work themselves into meaning as new scenes evolve.
Keenan is developing a new drawing style he calls ‘poly-polygons’ – graphic lines, shapes, and dots combine into kaleidoscopic images. He also has an interest in digital art, photo manipulation and collage, mashing together stock images and historical events, referencing meme culture with an element of humour. He likes to make new things out of found and discarded objects, including textiles (up-cycling, distressing, and altering). Informing his practice is an exploration into unorthodox and experimental ways of approaching art-making.
